VinnerVi works on YouTube, Bilibili, X (Twitter), TikTok, Dailymotion, Niconico, and any site with a standard HTML5 video player. The video must be publicly accessible and have audio available for download.
Some videos cannot be processed due to restrictions set by YouTube or the uploader. Here are the most common reasons:
No. If we cannot download or process the audio, your credits are automatically refunded. You will only be charged for successfully completed translations.
YouTube treats browser playback and programmatic downloads differently. Even if you can watch a video in your browser, our download system may be blocked by YouTube's anti-bot protections. This is most common with age-restricted content and some geo-restricted videos. We are continuously working to improve compatibility.
Video platforms like YouTube regularly update their systems to prevent automated access to subtitle data. VinnerVi uses multiple methods to retrieve subtitles on your behalf — including reading them directly from the page you're watching and, when that isn't possible, downloading them through our servers.
Occasionally, platform changes may temporarily affect our ability to access certain subtitle tracks. When this happens, your credits are automatically refunded. Our team actively monitors these changes and updates VinnerVi to restore compatibility, typically within a few days.
If you encounter this issue, you can try switching to Full Audio Translation mode as a reliable alternative. It transcribes the audio directly and is not affected by subtitle access restrictions.
VinnerVi only accesses publicly available data from the video page you are watching. We do not bypass any login requirements, paywalls, or access controls. Our extension reads subtitle information that the video platform already provides to your browser, and we use standard download methods on our servers as a fallback.
Platform providers frequently update their technical protections, and we work continuously to keep VinnerVi compatible within the boundaries of what is publicly accessible. While we cannot guarantee 100% availability for every video at all times, we are committed to maintaining broad compatibility and resolving issues quickly when they arise.
VinnerVi uses state-of-the-art large language models (LLMs) for both transcription and translation. In most cases, the output is highly accurate and natural-sounding — often comparable to professional human translation for everyday content.
That said, AI-generated translations can occasionally produce errors such as mistranslations, awkward phrasing, or hallucinated content (words or sentences not present in the original). This is an inherent characteristic of current AI technology, not a bug. We continuously refine our pipeline to minimize these issues, but they cannot be fully eliminated.
Translations work best with clear speech, common languages, and straightforward content. Accuracy may vary with heavy accents, overlapping speakers, domain-specific jargon, or rare language pairs. We recommend treating VinnerVi subtitles as a helpful aid for understanding foreign-language videos rather than a certified translation.
Because AI translation quality can vary by content, we do not offer refunds for stylistic or accuracy differences. Credits are only refunded when a job fails entirely (e.g. download error, processing crash). We encourage you to try the free trial credits first to see if the quality meets your needs before purchasing.
Credits are based on video duration. Audio mode costs 3 credits per minute — used when VinnerVi transcribes audio first. Subtitle track mode costs only 1 credit per minute — used when the video already has subtitles to translate.
Your credits are automatically refunded if any step of the pipeline fails. This includes download failures, transcription errors, and translation issues.
To protect our servers and prevent unnecessary resource usage, each video URL is limited to 5 failed attempts per hour per translation mode (Full Audio Translation or Subtitle Translation). This limit is shared across all users. If a video fails 5 times using a particular mode within that window, further attempts with that mode are temporarily blocked until the window resets.
All credits from failed attempts are automatically refunded. This limit exists because some videos simply cannot be processed (age-restricted, geo-blocked, etc.), and repeated retries would waste server resources without a different outcome.
If one mode is blocked, you can try the other. If you believe the video should work, please wait an hour and try again, or contact us at support@vinnervi.com with the video URL.
Video platforms like YouTube limit how frequently subtitles can be downloaded from the same server. If you submit the same video multiple times in quick succession, our servers may be temporarily blocked from accessing that video's subtitles.
Your credits are automatically refunded when this happens. Wait a few minutes before retrying — frequent attempts can extend the temporary block. If the issue persists, try switching to Full Audio Translation mode, which is not affected by subtitle rate limits.
First, check the error message shown in the popup — it will tell you the specific reason. If the video is age-restricted or private, there's nothing we can do. For other errors, try refreshing the page and submitting again. If the problem persists, contact us at support@vinnervi.com.
Yes! If you believe a video should work but doesn't, email us at support@vinnervi.com with the video URL and the error message. We'll investigate and let you know.
